MCD TestManager – Classic sequence control for test systems

Flexible test platform for individual test tasks

MCD TestManager is a software platform for developing and executing individual measurement and test procedures. It combines test control with type management, measurement evaluation and result documentation. Defined test steps run in a specified order and can be parameterised to suit the test task. The associated interpreter steps are written in MCD’s own interpreted language. Integrated editors and a debugger support development. Type families and variants assign suitable procedures and limits to different products. Measuring instruments and interfaces can be integrated through the available hardware modules and MCD Toolmonitors. DLLs, COM/ActiveX components and .NET assemblies add application-specific functions. Measurement data, test results and reports document the tests. This enables automated test concepts for development, manufacturing and quality assurance to be implemented and adapted to individual requirements.
Challenges and concept

Different product variants, measurement tasks and devices require adaptable test software. MCD TestManager combines test procedure development with parameter and limit management. Device integration and result evaluation are part of the same test environment.

MCD TestManager – Classic sequence control for test systems

Individual test steps and clearly defined procedures

The test sequence defines the order and conditions of the individual steps. Interpreter steps written in MCD's own language perform measurement and control tasks. Parameters allow the same function to be reused for different channels, measurement ranges or product variants.

Integrated editors, syntax checking and a debugger support development. Single-step mode allows procedures to be tested selectively. Hardware modules, toolmonitors and external software components adapt the application to the devices and test requirements.

The direct switch between runtime and development environments makes it easier to commission, adapt and optimize test systems. Process and measurement data can be exchanged between the integrated components while maintaining access to the connected hardware.

Interface

Measurement and control functions are written in MCD’s own interpreted language. The editor and debugger support editing and step-by-step code testing.

  • MCD’s interpreted language
  • Integrated editor
  • Syntax checking and debugger
  • Display of variables, parameters and call stacks

Type families and variants organise the products. Test procedures link the required steps to suitable parameters and limits for each test.

TestManager provides individually programmable test procedures and flexible device integration. MCD TestMate offers additional capabilities for test concepts involving parallel procedures and C# test steps. MCD helps select the right solution for the test requirements and system environment.

KEY FACTS

Individual test sequence control
MCD TestManager executes defined test steps in a specified order. Parameters and conditional branching adapt procedures to the test task. Measurement and control functions can be reused across different products.
MCD's own interpreted language
Interpreter steps implement the actions of a test step and return measurements to the system. The editor and syntax checker support development. The debugger enables step-by-step execution and inspection of variables and parameters.
Type families and product variants
Type management organises different types of DUT and assigns suitable procedures to them. Shared test steps can be called with different parameters and limits. This keeps test concepts for multiple variants clearly structured.
Flexible device and software integration
Hardware modules and MCD Toolmonitors connect measuring instruments and interfaces to the test procedure. DLLs, COM/ActiveX components and .NET assemblies extend the application with additional functions. Components are selected to suit the test system.
Measurement evaluation and documentation
The system evaluates measurements against the defined test step limits and uses them to determine test results. Measurements and associated test data can be saved. Customisable report templates and local statistics support documentation and evaluation.
